Attorney Jon Troe attended the University of St. Thomas School of Law in Minneapolis on a full scholarship graduating cum laude in May 2022. After joining the Minnesota Bar in October 2022, Attorney Troe practiced in Northern Minnesota as both a private practitioner and public defender with a majority of his criminal cases resulting in a stay of adjudication.
In 2023, Attorney Troe joined the County Attorney’s Office in Jackson, Minnesota, where he focused on non-felony criminal, CHIPS, child support, delinquency, truancy, and guardianship/conservatorship cases for the entire county. While at the County Attorney’s Office, Attorney Troe designed and implemented a new truancy diversion program, worked closely with social services, and secured dozens of convictions at trial.
Attorney Troe focuses on divorce and family law actions including child support, custody and placement matters, CHIPS, guardianship and more. His diverse experience in both public and private practice provide him with the skills and strategies to advocate for clients facing complex issues. He will primarily be practicing in Sheboygan, Ozaukee and Washington Counties.
Attorney Troe moved to the Mequon area to be closer to his significant other’s family. He passed the Wisconsin Bar Exam in July 2024 and was sworn in before the Wisconsin Supreme Court that following September. In his free time he enjoys spending time with loved ones, writing, and exercising.
Awards and Achievements
In April 2021 Attorney Troe received the University of St. Thomas Mission Award for Scholarly Engagement and Societal Reform for his research and advocacy on warrant reform in Minnesota.
In November of 2023 he was selected by the Office of Justice programs in Minnesota to be a member of the Minnesota Byrne State Crisis Intervention Program. The Board determined how to apply millions of dollars in federal funding to address the rise in gun violence.
